Guts & Glory: Hunter (In the Shadows Security Book 3)Guts & Glory: Hunter by Jeanne St. James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Gah! The sex scenes! Gah! So freaking good.
Is it wrong that I want to lick the cover of this book and trace my tongue over every inch of that tattoo? Hunter is an alpha on the outside, but a soft Latin lover on the inside--a winning combination if ever there was one. Frankie is a tough woman to like, but she won me over at the end. Her love for her son could be felt with the turn of every page and as a mother myself, I truly felt her mama bear instincts as well as her fear.
Another winner. One-click NOW!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One of my favorite JSJ books so far. And definitely my favorite JSJ hero. Ryder is the perfect blend of hard and soft, with the perfect touch, temperament and patience to soothe the ache inside of Kelsea's battered and shattered heart. I fell in love with Ryder and his soulful voice, his twang and how much he truly cared about Kelsea's wellbeing and saving her soul. The romantic element was a total bonus, but really, what won me over completely was just how incredible a person Ryder was. 50 bazillion stars for Ryder. This is a JSJ book you DO NOT WANT TO MISS!

Hot! Hawt! Chaud! Caliente! Scorching! On fire!
There are not enough ways to describe the heat level of this book.
I loved Mac!
I loved Damon!
I loved Trevor!
Damon is a sexy alpha pilot with an open (and dirty) mind, and Trevor is a wounded soul on a quest to win back the love of his life, but what he didn't account for was finding a second love along the way.
The sex scenes were freaking amazing (that massage WOW!) and the chemistry and feels kept me turning those digital pages. A must read!!! 5-stars!

Have Mercy!
I really liked this one as it got dark and made you truly hurt for the hero. He was tough to fall in love with though as he was just so damn hard and broody. We met Mercy in the Dirty Angels series and he came across as a bit of a weirdo, but JSJ did a great job redeeming him and making him into a character you could empathize with. The sex scenes (as always) were hot AF, and I love that JSJ writes about women with curves and the men who love to have something to hang on to. 5-stars!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unlike all the other people who have given this a rating before it's even been published in paperback, I was given an advanced advanced copy of this book. I was an alpha-reader. However, my opinions are my own and this review is unbiased.

Crow and Jazz ... could we ask for a better ending to such an amazing series? I don't think so.
JSJ knows how to hit you in the heart. These two are raw, real and face demons nobody should have to face. I can't get over Jazz's strength and Crow's patience, they're an unlikely match that is made for each other. What a way to end a series. Bravo!!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dear lord... the feels ... the emotions ... the rollercoaster. I was dizzy by the time I finally got off (no pun intended). This book hit me in the heart. Linc, *sigh* that poor soul, and Jayde, if there is anybody who has ever been caught between a rock and a hard place, it's this woman. I loved their passion, their intensity and their attraction. These books just keep getting better.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ooooh, just like Marc from the Brothers in Blue series, Dex has a secret hidden under his shirt that I can't get enough of. Brooke is my kind of woman, tough as nails but with a vulnerability that you can't help but be drawn to. This book packs a punch not only in the gut but the heart, too. We didn't know much about Dex until this book, but he's proven himself and then some. I like a man who isn't afraid to switch now and then ... 5 stars!

I've only recently started reading RH novels and this one took me by surprise. To nitpick, it does need proofreading. There are some punctuation errors (he winked is not a dialogue tag and should not be preceded by a comma) and some missing words, but if you look past that there is a fun, sexy, dirty story at the heart of it all. I connected with Claudia, although we really didn't learn much about her, let alone what she was a professor of, I was able to feel all her feels, from her heartache to her orgasms (and there were a lot of them). The evolution of Hunter, Colin and Brandon was en pointe and what you would expect from three college co-eds. I wasn't expecting a metamorphosis from any of them and I'm happy that the author kept the men true to form. They evolved, but not unbelievably, if that makes sense. I think Colin was my favorite, but I have a soft spot for nerds. Hunter was just sexy as hell ... I would have loved to read about Claudia tracing all his ink with her tongue, and Brandon was your quintessential underestimated jock with a heart of gold and a temper to match. I'm just entering the realm of RH, and so far, this is the best one I've read. That hot tub scene ... WOW!

View all my reviews Down & Dirty: Dawg (Dirty Angels MC Book 7)Down & Dirty: Dawg by Jeanne St. James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Much like Axel's book, this book took a bit of a different approach than the other series books, yet it was still SOOOO good! There was much less club drama, and instead the plot mainly focused on Dawg and Emma's issues.

We definitely saw a different, loveable and dare I say almost "cuddly" side to Dawg. He's not as tough, bad and insensitive as we were lead to believe in previous books. Sure he runs a strip club, but the man's got a heart and a conscience and he takes care of people.

Emma's one broken lady, and yet the strength inside her is so admirable, and it's that strength that draws these two people together. They couldn't be from more different walks of life and yet they're the perfect fit. Puzzle pieces that ended up in the wrong boxes only finally finding their way together against unbelievable odds and devastating pasts.

Dawg as a hero is definitely up there in my top three favourite DAMC men. His soft side may have just booted Diesel off the podium... and it might simply be because of the beard. Mmmm beards...

So many stars it's impossible to count.

View all my reviews Down & Dirty: Slade (Dirty Angels MC Book 6)Down & Dirty: Slade by Jeanne St. James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The twists! OMG! JSJ has done it again. I totally did not see that big plot twist coming, but boy oh boy am I excited for Crow's book, holy moly.

The previous books painted Diamond as this colossal bitch so I was glad she got her own story and we were able to see a softer and more genuine side to her, as well as uncover WHY she's got such a chip on her shoulder.

Slade is the perfect man for Diamond. He doesn't take her crap, dishes it right back, but he's also willing to put in the work to get her because he sees that's she more than just a piece of ass.

The run-in with the Warriors was a nice change of pace from where we've seen several of the heroines get kidnapped.

Another home run from JSJ. I'd dare say this might be one of my favourite books in the series so far. 10 stars!!!

View all my reviews Winter Igniting (Scorpius Syndrome, #5)Winter Igniting by Rebecca Zanetti
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I liked the mystery element in this book, perhaps because it wasn't predictable. I really had no clue what Pastor King's angle was for a long while. I figured out pretty quick who he was working with, but his motives remained unclear which was a nice change as I was beginning to find the other books in the series a tad predictable.

The heat and chemistry between April and Damon was scorching. His genuine sweetness (toward everyone) was a nice change from all the he-man alphas we've been seeing in this series. Yes, he's deadly and dangerous with an edge to him, but what you see first is his sweet and funny side. Despite the way the world has gone he still holds on to hope and can find a reason to smile. April is probably one of the strongest characters RZ has written in a long time. Yes, her heroines are all typically strong-willed females, but April is like Lara Croft, Wonder Woman and Imperator Furiosa all rolled into one. She's literally lost everything and yet she's still fighting, still taking care of others and unwilling to let the devastation around her get her down. Definitely one of my favourites in the series so far.

3.5 stars

I liked this book. It wasn't quite as riveting as the Sin Brothers Series, but I'm left curious and interested in Heath and Denver, I want to know their stories and see them get their HEA. I found the subplot concerning Zara and Julie and the cop very weird and unnecessary, there was enough story with the Jones Brothers to keep things interesting, so the Julie plot was just a bit superfluous in my opinion. I honestly thought the cop had a connection with Sheriff Cob and had called him, it was a bit disappointing that there was no connection. The chemistry was good, and there was some witty banter but I can't say this is my favorite book by RZ. I'll eventually read the other two in the trilogy, but I'm not chomping at the bit. It was nice to see the Sin Brothers return for a cameo, though. I've missed them. All-in-all a good and entertaining read. I recommend for anyone wanting some steamy romance, hot alpha males and mild suspense, this is the book for you.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 stars.

I love RZ's books and the world's she builds-unfortunately, this one did not hit the bullseyes for me. Some of this I blame the publisher/editor/proofreader for, such as inconsistencies in character description and plot. Yes, the author should know as well, but this is why editors and proofreaders are hired and paid the big bucks. Because the author gets so tied up in the story they forget when they've made one person's hair blonde in one story only to make them brunette in another. I liked Maureen in this book, she was sassy and kind and sweet. Grey was a bit too alpha for me, and normally I like my heroes on the alpha-y side, but he was slightly OTT, almost to the point of having dual personalities. As much as he "talked the talk" about punishing her and the sex was described as "world rocking and touching every inch of her" I didn't get that from the pages. It was the missionary position every time, on a bed. Mix it up a little. And I know RZ knows how to mix it up, her other characters do it up against trees etc in other books. Even have them do it in a shower, just mix it up a little. I think what bugged me the most though was how she first said Grey's mother died when he was young, which sent him into foster care, then, later on, we kept getting told his mother abandoned him. BIG FREAKING DIFFERENCE. I love the dystopian world that's been created and the overall story arc, so I will continue on with this series. Plus, Damon's book is next and he's been made out to be a very intriguing character. I just hope they have sex somewhere else besides a bed and in a position other than man-on-top.

I loved this hot and dirty book from JSJ. You could really feel the love and connection between Grant and Eli, and the addition of Liv just made it all the hotter. The world could use more guys like these two; dominating and romantic, sensitive and protective and oh so naughty in the bedroom. It really is a fantasy you don't want to miss out on -- two sexy AF guys and the woman who wins both their hearts. Toss in some mild suspense and secret that could ruin them all and this book has it all. Another 5-star read from JSJ! <3 br="">

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was graciously given the opportunity to beta-read this book and can honestly say it hits you in the feels... HARD! It's not like the other four MC books in that hero is an articulate cop with a lot on his plate and even more in his heart. This is such a modern day Romeo and Juliet story (without the whole suicide and pre-teen marriage thing). You can really feel the strain that these two are going through, feel the pull of their lives and families who seem determined to keep them apart, and yet you know and THEY know that they are what is best for each other. Two halves, only a whole when with the other. I really like Axel. And to be honest, in the first four books I wasn't sure about him. Was he going to be this super cocky cop with his head up his ass who thinks his shit doesn't stink and people just need to do as he says and women everywhere swoon when he walks into a room? I kind of thought he might be. But he wasn't. This man was everything you want in a partner, fierce loyalty, that alpha protective instinct, integrity, and honesty. He loves Bella SO DAMN HARD you just want to grab the woman by the shoulders and shake some sense into her until she realizes it too. Loved book 5. Loved. It!

What a beautiful way to end such a wonderful series. I simply love the world of Bohemia Beach that LL has created. The imagery and description are enough to transport you right there, make you bury your toes in the sand and sing along to Ez and the Emeralds. Bennet is probably one of my favorite heroes in this entire series. I love a man with a fun and goofy personality. And he plays off Millie's demand for order and organization so well. Their chemistry is raw and real and really draws you into their relationship. Throw in some jingling bells, mistletoe and lots of holiday whimsy and this book was not only the perfect way to kick off the holidays but also a great way to say goodbye to people who have truly become old friends. I can't wait for the spin-off series!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I've been waiting for this one for a while now and had the privilege of being provided with a beta copy. I must say, JSJ has done a bang-up job creating a loveable beast. Diesel is a brute in every way, and yet you know that his heart is as big as his...umm muscles? Sometimes I found myself getting a little frustrated with Jewel and her behavior, but I also understand that love makes you do nutty things. And boy oh boy does she love her beast. JSJ has once again drawn me into her MC world and made me long for a tattooed sleigh-riding caveman of my own, because you know, even though their English might be atrocious, there isn't anything more important to these men than family and their ol' ladies. I loved this book. Diesel was everything I'd hoped he'd be and more. Knocked it out of the park! Can you give a book more than 5 stars?

Down & Dirty: Hawk (Dirty Angels MC Book 3)Down & Dirty: Hawk by Jeanne St. James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Read it. Loved it! Who'd have thought big, tough, Mowhawked Hawk would have a soft side? Who knew anyone could tame him or make him want to give up his philandering ways with Sweetbutts? Introducing Kiki, a tough as nails lawyer who doesn't take crap from anyone, but sure as hell knows how to dish it out when needed. I loved their banter and chemistry. I loved this storyline and both characters were just the right amount of endearing and annoying to make them real. Another slam dunk in this MC series. Trigger warning though, see the blurb for more details.

A great second installment of the Dirty Angels MC series. I love Ivy's strength, brains and determination to NOT become an Ol' Lady. She wants more for herself. She wants more for Jag. Their chemistry is hot and real and the sex is steaming. It took me a while to warm up to Jag, but in the end, he won me over and I was rooting for them. Anxiously awaiting the next book... come on, JSJ, give me Diesel, you know I want Diesel!

By far my favorite Jeanne St. James book. I love the way she is able to build a world, a community and a family you can't help but just fall in love with. The slang and dialogue helped to transport me right there and made the characters believable. The instant attraction between Sophie and Zak was hot and so was the sex. JSJ managed to sneak in enough tidbits here and there about other characters that now I have to see this series through to find out what happens to Jag, Ivy, Bella, Axel, Hawk and of course Diesel and that sweet ass of his. I'm also very curious to see what happens with the Shadow Warriors and Zak's family. A great first book to set up a whole lotta shit that's going to go down in quiet little Shadow Valley. I love RZ, love her books. But this one was by not one of my favorites. I know it was meant to be an "extra" story, to fill in some gaps about the emerging plague of the Scorpius Bacteria, as well as give us some information about Zach, Bret, Nora and Deke, but it just fell flat. There was so much implied with Nora and Deke. I was left wanting to know more about their past relationship, wanting to know more about his rage, their whirlwind, romance and early marriage, and yet we weren't. I also wish we were given a bit more foreshadowing into Bret's behavior. We know he gets Scorpius and turns into a brilliant, calculating ripper. But even just a bit of an "asshole" moment would have been appreciated. We also know from previous books that Lynn wasn't as into him as she appeared to be in this book, so I found that a little odd. I just wanted more from this book. Deacon was built up to be this big alpha with a temper and I feel like he really should have had one big explosion. Maybe he will in the coming books, who knows? But I was left a little unsatisfied with this book. Will I continue reading the series? You bet your ass I will, every author has an "off" book. And overall I love RZ's books and her style of writing. I also need to know what happens to the characters I've fallen in love with. And they sure as hell better catch Zach and put that bastard down for good!

Another home run from JSJ. This book was so damn dirty, my cheeks were on fire nearly the entire time. Noah and Bree were kids when they did the deed, popping cherries in a pool shed at the tender age of seventeen. But miscommunication and childish naivete got in the way of a high school romance, as well as anything into adulthood. Yet, their love, their obsession continued to burn through the years. Finally, the night before Bree's brother's wedding they finally have their shot at making it right. Sex the first time had sucked, now they're adults, experienced and seasoned sexperts, there's no way it can be bad. Well, these sexperts know how to get filthy. I LOVE these novellas. They're chock full of heat, passion, and hilarity. JSJ knows how to write it spicy.

These people just can't catch a freaking break. But what do you expect during an apocalypse I guess? Tace is a sexy Texan with a heart of gold and a changing brain thanks to Scorpius, but I kind of liked the new Tace. He was darker, more driven, more serious, but he was also more passionate and single-minded. He spoke his mind and wasn't afraid to go after exactly what he wanted, which was Sami Steel. Sami was tough as nails but with a real sweet side. And I love that she's super nerdy too. I really liked this couple. So far, they might be my favorite of the three. I was left rather verklempt at the end of this book. Not because I didn't enjoy it, because holy hell, did I ever, but I'm sad that it's the end of the Realm Enforcers. I DEVOURED the Dark Protectors series and obsessed over the Realm Enforcers, anxiously awaiting the next one. And now that the next one, the last one is out and I've finished, I feel a little lost. Okay, not LOST, I'm reading The Scorpius Syndrome series now and loving it, but I'm sad this was the last book. I loved Bear. Just loved him. He was ornery and funny, sweet and strong. A true alpha Grizzly who I fell in love with back in the beginning of the series. I enjoyed the strength as well as the tenderness of Nessa, though her secrets kind of pissed me off, but I understand why she had them. The twist at the end was surprising and threw me for a loop. I'd had my suspicions, but I hadn't expected him/her (I don't do spoilers) to be the mastermind. Super hot sex, great chemistry. Great job over all. I loved it.

This is the fifth and final installment of the Bohemia Beach series and I really enjoyed it. Thea is dealing with issues from her past, insecurities and past betrayals, while Duncan is keeping secrets and plastering on a big, happy smile for his viewers. I really enjoyed Duncan's jokester personality as well as how much he truly seemed to care about Thea. I kept having to remind myself that Thea was only twenty-three because as much as I liked her and empathized with her insecurities she started to bug me. BUT she was only twenty-three, so I think the way she reacted is probably age appropriate. If it were me, I would have just said, "What's going on here? Where's this relationship going? Do you want to keep dating after our seven-week deal or what?" But I'm a hell of a lot older than Thea and am blunt like that. She constantly seemed worried she was going to say the wrong this and scare Duncan off. I really enjoy Lucy Lakestone's style of writing. It's very descriptive, more like poetry put into a story, and she has a gift to bring the characters and their emotions to life. The sex, as is true to form with LL, was hot, and the chemistry believable and real. I love this series and am happy with how it concluded.

There was so much going on in this book. WOW! Shit was coming at them from every damn side. I will say, as much as I loved this book and it still gets 5 stars in my personal opinion, I wasn't a fan of how secretive Raze was behaving. I mean seriously dude, it's not like the Mercs told you, "tell anyone we have your sister and we'll cut off her elbows." So why didn't he ask Jax and Vanguard help from the get-go? That's pretty much my only major complaint. I liked that the Scorpius Bacterium made Vivienne (hate the nickname Vinnie for Vivienne, it's Vivi or nothing!) have diarrhea of the mouth, that was adorable. I'm a sucker for kinky sex, what can I say? And Jeanne St. James knows how to tell a story with plenty of play, debauchery, and good old-fashioned naughtiness. I didn't even know what a tawse was before I read this book, and now all I can think about is buying my own and testing it out. The sex is HOT, the need, the craving is raw and full of passion and the hero, well... I'd let him do whatever he wanted to me too, just saying. Nick... what can I say about Nick? The man has demons, big, dark, horrible demons that no man (person) should ever have to face, and when he finally tears down his walls and invites Grace in I got a little misty-eyed. The man has been through a lot, and I'm happy he's finally finding some peace. And Grace, well she's a little spit-fire who I could totally see myself being friends with and getting up to no-good after a couple of bottles of pinot noir and an extra-large pizza. I liked her. She was real, she was funny, she was cute. You have to go into these novellas with the understanding that they are going to be short and sweet. Yes, there is a butt-load of sex (see what I did there?), but there are complex characters and a sweet story too.
Jeanne St. James knows how to story tell, and she knows how to do it in under 25K words! LOVED IT!

Make sure you're reading it where no one is going to see your face, because I guarantee you're going to go six shades of red, be all hot and bothered and perhaps a little turned on (A LOT turned on). This is the third book of Ms. Lakestone's I've read and I have to say, she has me hooked! Her writing style is phenomenal, so descriptive and emotional you can't help but feel what the characters are feeling. At first, I was a little miffed at how long it took us to find out Ez's haunted past, it seemed like that secret just dragged on, but once she found her voice and was comfortable enough to come out with the truth the story really picked up and you understood her better. The man is perfect, just the right combination of sensitive, sexy and dominant, you can't help but fall in love with him. I'm really enjoying this series and I can't wait to start #4.

I really enjoyed this book. Normally I prefer darker romance with weaving subplots, angst and some real "whoa" moments, but this was a nice change. Sweet, young love with just a touch of sadness and a whole lot of hot, steamy sex. I will admit, Alex kind of weirded me out at first, his intensity and aloofness seemed a little creepy, but once we figured out why and I was able to put myself in his shoes I quickly grew to love him. Some people are just more intense than others and there's nothing wrong with that. You can tell Lucy Lakestone grew up reading Jane Austen, for the way she describes and tells stories, right down to emotions, clothing and the room you're in, you can't help but be transported right there.

Lucy Lakestone is a true artist --a painter! The way she is able to spread color and imagery though her stories is so vivid and descriptive it takes you right there as a fly on the wall, watching the entire tale unfold. Cali and Wyatt are both young lost souls trying to find their way in the world and in love. Wyatt has had a rough past and childhood and Cali has tossed up mile-high walls around her heart due to an endless stream of crappy boyfriends. But their connection and chemistry are instant and so believable you can't help but get swept up in their whirlwind and feel as though you are a part of it all too. The sex is hot, the romance is beautiful and this book had me grinning and gushing and rooting for the H/h the whole way through. I can't wait to read the entire series!

A sweet summer romance set on the beach. I liked this book. The characters were real, and at times I felt myself shaking my head going "get it together guys", but flaws are welcomed, especially when the characters recognize those flaws and aim to grow. It was also great that the heroine had kids, Shannyn Leah really managed to captivate and truly grasp a mother's love and devotion to her children (at no matter what cost). Definitely sweeter then what I normally read, but the change was nice, and the overall family mystery story arc definitely has me wanting to pick up the next book and find out more of the Caliendo family secrets.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars View all my reviews A beautifully written story by the talented Erica Lynn! Lacey is tough as nails (or at least trying to be) after a past relationship all but destroyed who she was, while Cameron is walking, talking sex on a stick with a twang that will make any red-blooded woman lose her composure. This book is hot, sweet, dirty and hits all the feels. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and anxiously await the next installment in the series.

One with You (Crossfire, #5)One with You by Sylvia Day
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars

I was really looking forward to this book, and unfortunately, I was left rather unsatisfied by the end. I read the first two books three times each they were so edge-of-your-seat and hot that in comparison this book just fell flat for me. I LOVE subplots, and Sylvia Day is great for incorporating those into her books, but I felt as though the ending was rushed and unnecessary subplots were introduced, while we never really got a true summation of the secondary character's problems. It took forever for the two of them to have sex, and there were only three maybe four sex scenes, and for a book that long I was expecting more, especially considering how much sex there was in the shorter books that preceded this one.

I grew tired of reading about how beautiful Gideon thought Eva was or how virile and powerful Eva considered Gideon. The constant internal dialogue about their whirlwind and intense relationship and how they'd saved one another became repetitive. Don't get me wrong, I love Sylvia Day's books and I think she is an artist when it comes to painting a picture and creating a world with her words, but this book was not, in my opinion, a satisfying bow to tie up the Crossfire series. I'm not someone who gives away any spoilers, but there were certainly a few things like the entire storyline surrounding Monica, that I think were completely unnecessary. I'd have liked to learn more about Cary or Christopher, people we already knew had problems and have been rooting for or hating since book 1. I like Monica, but giving her that huge subplot was superfluous in my opinion.
